The University of Northwestern Ohio is proud to highlight the growing impact of its alumni and students in professional motorsports. This past summer, UNOH graduates and current students played central roles in a full day of drift instruction headlined by three-time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg at Texas Drift Academy, a reflection of the real-world opportunities a UNOH motorsports education can create.
The event was organized by UNOH alumnus Jack Reusch ('23), a graduate of the University's Automotive and Motorsports Marketing program who now serves as Sales and Marketing Director at Texas Drift Academy, the largest drift academy in the world. The day welcomed 15 drivers from across the country, including one who traveled from Mexico and earned Best Driving of the Day, rotating between classroom sessions and on-track instruction.
UNOH's presence extended well beyond the front office. Jackson Orr, a 2023 UNOH graduate who now serves as crew chief for Forsberg Racing, drove alongside the students, a demonstration of where a UNOH education can lead within the sport.
Current UNOH student Braden Altrup gained hands-on industry experience handling media and event production throughout the day, the kind of real-world exposure that sets Racers apart before they graduate.
"Being on-site at an event like this, working alongside pros while I'm still in school, is exactly why I came to UNOH," said Altrup. "You can't learn this kind of thing in a classroom alone, and I wouldn't have the opportunity without the doors UNOH has opened."
"UNOH gave me the skills, the confidence, and the connections that made all of this possible," said Reusch. "Seeing the University represented at every level of an event like this, from a champion's crew chief to a current student running production, is what makes this program special."
The event also reflects UNOH's expanding presence in the sport. The University serves as the Official Education Partner of Formula Drift, with approximately a dozen students working FD events, a partnership rooted in the connections UNOH graduates like Reusch and Orr have built throughout the industry.
